Avignon - France

The road to Avignon.

Voila !

Art gallery shops along the plaza.

Palais de Papes - home to the Popes of the Catholic church prior to relocating to the Vatican in Rome.

Lobby at La Banasterie pension where we stayed.

Interior courtyard at La Banasterie.

Cinque Terre Coast - Italy

One of the 5 towns along the Cinque Terre coastal trail.

The rugged coastline reminds us of Oregon or Big Sur.

Small towns along the coast appear to be slipping into the sea.

Hand painted 6 meter high ceiling in the breakfast room of the Stella Maris Hotel in Levanto. Awarded "Best Loved Hotels of the World" - we stayed one night.

Our last Italian pizza !

Tuscany - Italy

Tuscan farms and rolling hills.

If these old walls could tell us their story.

Beyond the tiny gate lay our quaint Tuscan campsite for the night.

My engineering skills were no match for the tower.

Santorini - Greece

Jane captivated by the afternoon view of the Aegean Sea.

Whitewashed buildings cascade down the cliff at the capital, Fira.

Dozens of blue domed Greek Orthodox churches dot the island villages.

An old windmill perched on the cliff at sunset near Oia.

Roma - Italy

Our sanctuary for two days at Hotel S. Anselmo.

An evening aperitif at the hotel bar.

Classic Italian transportation - noisy and chaotic.

We were humbled - as we contemplated chariots and gladiators entering the coliseum centuries ago - perhaps fighting to their death.

A coin tossed in 2000 has brought us back to Trevi Fountain.

The Vatican Guards' intensity is masked only by their uniforms.

A Day on the Road

Buying gas at 1.655 Euros per litre !

Laundry at the campsite !

Paying the bills, updating the journal, backing up the photos and posting the blogs.

Liechtenstein

The castle of the king is prominently situated on the hill above the capital of this small, well run country.

Switzerland

Swiss Alps provided a dramatic backdrop of varying vistas.

Driving across Switzerland from Geneva to Zurich to St. Moritz.
