France

The rolling fields along the backroads of the French countryside reminded us of Van Gogh.

We drove through the narrow dirt roads amoungst the vineyards of the Burgandy region, stopping to buy the local wines and consume a savoury tailgate lunch.

The French Alps at Charmonix / Mont Blanc - where we camped in the foothills.

Belgium

Brussels chocolates in Brussels - mmmmmmmm !

Where more appropriate for Belgian waffles than in Belgium !

Old guild houses still dominate the main plaza in Brussels.

Amsterdam - The Netherlands

Jane normally wears something more like a size 7.

The perverbial Red Light District of Amsterdam lives on.

Wooden tulips keep the colors alive even when spring has passed.

Architecture in Amsterdam dates back to at least the 1600s.

Baltic Sea - Germany

Planning the next day from our simple campsite on the shore of the Baltic Sea in Germany.

Copenhagen, Denmark

Simple utilitarian bicycles provide a convenient, eco friendly, easy to get around and economical mode of transportation for people of all walks of life and all ages in Copenhagen and also in Amsterdam.

In promptu street performers including these drummers in the plaza in Copenhagen provide a wonderful variety of entertainment.

The ferry crossing from Denmark to Germany reminded us of the Gulf Island ferry back home.

Absolut vodak consumed from frozen ice glasses.

Scandinavian freinds we met at the Ice Bar.

Fjords - Norway

The fjord walls drop vertically into the sea near Aurland.

Inside the 25 km long Aurland Tunnel in Norway - possibly the longest car tunnel in the world.

The Volvo - Gothenburg Sweden

This morning we picked up the XC70 from the Volvo factory in Sweden - then headed down the E20.

Harlem, USA

The lavender suit - Harlem.

We had walked north to Harlem where we came across several children playing in the spray of a broken fire hydrant to cool off in the heat of the day. Then along Malcolm X Blvd and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd to the Apollo Theater.

New York City

It was 103F in the big apple where NYPDs finest were out in force. Jane and I walked 7 miles from The Pod Hotel in mid town Manhattan down to Greenwich Village for an excellent homemade pizza, then over the Brooklyn Bridge.
